Harrow and Wealdstone
Delivering robust Construction Engineering Assurance and expert Temporary Works support to power the successful delivery of critical platform coping works and platform canopy repairs at the Grade II listed Harrow & Wealdstone Station
Client: Taziker Industrial | Sector: Rail | Location: Harrow
Providing coordinated Construction Engineering Assurance and specialist Temporary Works support, we ensured the platform coping works and platform canopy repairs were executed safely, on programme, and in full compliance with the stringent operational, safety, and heritage constraints of this live railway station environment.
Working on an active mainline station presented intense logistical and safety challenges that called for meticulous oversight and flawless execution. Daily passenger flows created a dynamic setting where all interventions required strategic scheduling and real-time adaptability to limit service impacts, while prioritising public wellbeing and full regulatory adherence throughout the enhancement programme.
Sai Engineering was proudly appointed by Taziker to deliver comprehensive Construction Engineering Assurance and expert Temporary Works support for the critical platform coping works and platform canopy repairs at Harrow & Wealdstone Station. Operating within the high-pressure constraints of a live operational railway and a Grade II listed heritage structure, we brought decisive expertise to the forefront, ensuring that every phase of the project advanced with unyielding focus on safety, compliance, and programme certainty. This was no ordinary station upgrade — it demanded absolute precision under constant operational demands.
Our involvement extended far beyond standard support, encompassing the composition of detailed Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) that established rigorous quality control measures and inspection regimes across all platform coping and canopy activities. We authored comprehensive Temporary Works Design Briefs that clearly defined requirements, constraints, and parameters, empowering the design of safe and efficient temporary solutions capable of withstanding the intense demands of live rail environments. Furthermore, we completed Form E submissions with full authority for both temporary and permanent works, securing essential engineering assurances and certificates of fitness for use in strict accordance with Network Rail standards.
By leveraging our specialist knowledge in rail infrastructure assurance and temporary works management, Sai Engineering not only met expectations but significantly strengthened the project’s overall delivery. We empowered our client to navigate live-site complexities with confidence, maintaining momentum while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality throughout.
